Weddings
If you want to get married in St James there are some legal requirements to fulfil. These are:
1. That one or other of you live in the Parish or have a ‘qualifying connection’ with the Parish.
2. That you are both over the age of 18 years or if younger have parental or guardian consent.
3. That you are not related to each other in a close family relationship. More details can be found when you enquire.
In addition church law states that you cannot marry if you:
4. have a former marriage partner still living. (The situation in this case is too complicated to deal with here except to say the Bishops accept that the minister, acting as a civil registrar,
can conduct such marriages in exceptional cases. It should be noted that at St James exceptional cases hinge on whether the former marriage breakdown was covered by the exceptions recorded
in scripture).
All enquiries should be addressed to the Vicar or in his absence the administrator
